I spent 9 hours today in New Hampshire, two three hour shifts of canvassing, and another three hours driving people to the polls. My proudest moment today was helping a Viet-Nam era veteran in a motorized wheelchair. I went to his house and got his jacket on, helped his chair by pushing it through the snow (only 4 inches of dry powder); I drove his specialized van down to the polling site for him, got him out, up the elevator and then stood in line for him; when the entry worker said he was 'unaffiliated' and asked which party he wanted to vote for, he pointed to the Bernie! button on my jacket and he was handed the Democratic ballot. I helped him into the handicapped voting booth and gave him my large cell phone as a table to mark his selection, then made sure it was placed into the correct ballot box on the way out; drove him back home, pushed him up the ramp and got his jacket back off. That was the highlight of my day today.

This primary is a most revealing one. I've been voting since 1980,I'm sick of the lame excuses for compromise, incremental victories and for things to take shape slowly. Fuck that. The suits get everything they want. Every Goddamn motherfucking thing and it happens overnight. GWB gave the MIC everything they asked for and more. Bush was an idiot but damn if he wan't EFFECTIVE. Now,not only do we have a behemoth of an MIC, we now have a Cyber/Intel IC---never-mind the HealthCare/INSURANCE Industrial Complex,as well. We got fucked by Barack Opharma. Fucked hard. He continued the policies of Bush/Cheney. Even kept many of their operatives such as Victoria Nuland. Moreover,I always wondered why progressives always considered Bill and Hillary Clinton as progressive, they're not. Neither was Barack Opharma. Everyone complains as to how the Democratic Party moved to the right--Well Goddamn! Carter laid the foundation and the Neoliberal Clinton ran with it. And,to think some called the SOB America's First Black President. Ain't that America? Empty platitudes, soundbites and canards. And we on the left think we're so Goddamned smart!

Now,for the first time in our lifetimes,we have a candidate that might do some good. He's not bought out by Wall St. He says America CAN DO single payer if we take the initiative. Hell, real genuine national healthcare has been a bone of contention and a part of the Democratic platform for decades. Now,the status quo of the Democratic Party wants to do everything to torpedo not only the candidate espousing genuine Democratic values, but Hillary is on record as saying we will never have single payer. Ain't that rich? Golly gee,we just don't have the wherewithal to offer Medicare For All,but Goddamn! We have the wherewithal to spend trillions in order to remake the Middle East and topple the Governments of Honduras and Ukraine. Plus, the so called progressive candidate Hillary "It Takes a Village To Raise A Child" Clinton receives an endorsement from Madeline "500,000 Dead Iraqi Children Is Worth It" Albright; "There is a special place in hell for women not willing to support Hillary." You can't make this shit up! Yep,It's surreal and we really are in Pottersville motherfuckers!

How many progressive bloggers have been ignoring Sanders? How many so called progressive bloggers have been fluffing Hillary? (Fluffing metaphorically speaking--unless she's gotta cock). So many of the so called progressive blogosphere are posers. Democratic Party Apparatchiks. Monetizing discontent and that's about it. Tribesmanship is more important than ideology and the state of the union. There's a lot of anger out there. It's not just wingers that are pissed off. Democrats have no idea how much the Max Baucus/Wellstone/Romney/Heritage Foundation ACA is hated by the public,Left and right. It's a piece of shit. Plus, when Democrats have the Congress and the WH what do they do? Punt when the field is wide open. I'm so fucking sick of hearing/reading BUT...BUT...THE SUPREME COURT! Yeah, well I've got two names to counter...Biden and Thomas!

I'll be voting for Bernie. He's not perfect, but he's as close to a genuine progressive as we've got. If he doesn't get the nomination,I'll write him in if applicable,if not I'll leave the presidential blank. The wingers may be batshit crazy, but at least they're not impotent. We on the left need to stop supporting Democrat apparatchiks,DINO's and corporate sellouts. We're not so smart either. We've been voting against our interests for decades as well. By rejecting the status quo,We might just get it right (no pun intended) this time around. If the Clinton machine wins,we deserve the appellation/description of being "stupid retards".....Given to us by none other than Democrat Rahm Emmanuel.

Thanks for letting me rant.

I'd love to know who exactly you are. You've just brutally articulated everything I've been thinking, saying, writing and feeling about the so-called Democrats for years. My constant criticism of Obama cost me a shitload of readers but I don't care. I'm not going to sell out my principles for a few hits or regular Paypal contributions.

What I can't understand about this primary is why so many black people, especially black women, are finding everything bad or allegedly bad about Bernie Sanders and why they're so reluctant to support him. I know of a psychiatrist in Houston, a smart black lady who was my psychiatric adviser for Tatterdemalion, who actually sneers on Twitter time and again about Bernie Sanders having marched with Dr. King in '63.

This is a bad thing, all of a sudden?

Sanders has been fighting against racial inequality for decades starting at the same time their girl Hillary was also Goldwater's girl. You remember Barry, right? He's the guy who said he'd nuke North Vietnam and would repeal the Civil Rights Act.

And the Iowa Caucus and NH primary results are clear: The richer you are, the more likely you'll vote for Hillary. The poorer you are, the more likely you'll vote for Sanders. And which demographic got us into this economic mess? The 1% or the 99% below them?

Hello JP,It's Anon.

I had to take a long break from political blogs because the BS was just getting too thick. Anyway, you have always been honest with your readers--too honest to a fault-- and perhaps it's a good thing you never were considered among the "cool kids" of Liberal blogging. After Obama, the Professional Left has lost all credibility. Hell,TPM has taken all references to Sanders and of the NH primary down--at least as of last night. I'm guessing a lot of so called Lefty Blogs have some wealthy sugar daddies.

There's a post by an Ian Welsh at his site wrt to why the progressive blogs have failed. I echo his sentiments. Moreover,I never understood why Digby was regarded as brilliant. Hell, many of your righteous writings/rants deserved a Koufax Award.

Ya know,I'm not sure if we can take any rhetoric wrt the minority vote and their support seriously from any MSM sources. There is quite a divide between the haves and have-nots within the AA community. The only viewpoints considered for MSM attention seem to be those of the bourgeoisie. So,who knows? I have faith in our fellow AA citizens.

Keep in mind, this is the same media that exalts the Clintons as genuine progressives and Obama as a Liberal. The unspoken reasons why Bill Clinton's Welfare Reform was so popular among White-America --Left and Right--are the same unspoken reasons why Trump is so popular today. This should cause "Liberals" to look upon themselves in askance. At least those among the Professional Left that continue to shake the pom poms for Clinton.

To put it succinctly,I'm sick of the status quo. I believe ideology should trump (no pun) party tribalism. We need a counter-revolution because we're suffering from the effects of the Silent Revolution or (Google)The Quiet Coup. The Powell Manifesto has supplanted The Constitution.

Welp,I gotta go. I will post more in the future. Just an FYI, Your site takes some time for my browser to load. Just sayin'.

Take care and I will visit again soon.

To give you an idea of how much Overton's Window has been wrenched to the right, Trump's brand of conservatism is now mainstream... just as Adolph Hitler's was. Both men said we should be ashamed of our country because of the previous government and look how well that worked out for Germany by 1945.

The current crop of establishment Democrats, those that pass Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's approval, are like the Neville Chamberlains that continually seek appeasement from the fascists on Capitol Hill and look how well that's worked out thus far.

The Democrats aren't as bad as the Republicans but only by dint of conspicuous relief. The Republicans ought to be officially classified by the State Department as either a terrorist organization or a Fifth Column. They insinuate their way into a government they profess to hate with the single-minded intention of dismantling it or shutting it down. That's the very definition of a Fifth Column.

The Democrats? They're enablers, meaning they're just as guilty.

If Sanders doesn't get the nomination, and he very easily may not, but he continues running on an Independent ticket, I'll vote third party. Fuck these people sneering at my demands for "political purity." Sanders is as much of a threat to establishment Democrats as Trump is, albeit for entirely different reasons. Because the entrenched ones, the Wasserman-Schultzes, the Schumers, the Clintons know that Bernie will blow the whistle as President and order everyone out of the pool.

The Party's Over.

End of story.

And the Democrats don't want that because they're just as cozy with Wall Street as their "colleagues" on the other side of the aisle. Take a look at Clinton's top 20 campaign contributors.

I'd still love to know who you are.

A most excellent conversation, gents...I have nothing to add. You have said it all. Sanders IS as close to a progressive as possible; Clinton is a reincarnated Thatcher. There is no comparison: anyone with half a brain and conscience can see this.
